What obstacles will we conquer?

Here’s How It Works

Course Details
How hard is this? Our obstacles are designed so you can conquer them on your own but it’s always nice to have a teammate help push you over these huge walls. Even the competitive athletes will struggle and instead of a penalty when you can’t conquer an obstacle, you just keep trying until you do! Open waves have the option to skip an obstacle, however competitive runners will be disqualified if they can’t complete an obstacle. Extra laps Want to race more than once? For an extra $15 you can run as many laps as you want. This is great if you want to race the Competitive wave and then again with family or friends new to obstacle races. You’ll get a special wrist sweatband and each lap you complete you’ll collect a monkey pin so you can brag after the race. Where’s the map? Part of the difficulty is we won’t post a map until race day! With surprises around the corner the race becomes more challenging but we will have a huge map for you to study right before the start cannon goes off.

Available Start Times
Early waves fill up fast, register now before the spots are gone! If you’re trying to join a friend in a wave that is already full, ask them to create a team and when you join their team you can race at the same time they are. The Competitive waves have prize money and cost $15 extra. Early waves are super popular and cost more, but don’t worry, the later waves are just as good! The fastest female and male athletes in the Competitive 10k will be awarded gigantic monkey medals and the 10k distance will be awarded cash prizes: 1st place – $200, 2nd place – $100, 3rd – $50.

You can race on a team or solo, but mud runs with friends are so much more fun!

When signing up you will have the option to create a new team or join one. If the time the team captain chose is full already, click FAQ in the menu above to see details on how to join their same start time.

Packet Pickup Times

The only Packet Pick Up is on race day. PPU will open 1 hour before the first wave.

Please plan to arrive 60-90 minutes prior to your wave start to allow for time to park, scan your barcode to get your shirt, drop off your gear bag with clean clothes, and stretch! You MUST have the following before your race packet is released:

  • A printed Check-In Ticket or Mobile Ticket
  • Signed printed waiver. We’ll have copies available race morning but you’ll have to wait in an extra line to sign a printed waiver, so bring your own and save time!

After you show this, you’ll get your:

  • Timing chip for your shoes (8 o’clock waves only)
  • Race bib for your shirt
  • Freakishly awesome Terrain race shirt
  • Access to our gear check tent – we can hold onto a change of clothes while you race
Timing & Awards

Your time will be slower than a typical 5k or 10k race, and most athletes don’t get timed at the race.

We use chip timing if you’re in competitive waves: 8:00a, 8:05a. This lets you see how fast you really are and we provide you with a free printable ‘finisher certificate’ online after the race. If you want to be eligible for an award, sign up for the Competitive Waves at 8:00a or 8:05a. Our staff, volunteers and ambassadors are eligible for prize money and awards. Athletes in the competitive wave will not be eligible for prize money if they practice on any obstacle or pre-run the course. Awards will be given out to Competitive Waves only:

  • Overall 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. (You must complete all obstacles to be in the results and available for prizes.)

Please let our staff remove your timing chip after finishing your race. All unreturned chips will result in public humiliation… and a $25 fee.

Post Race

Bring some extra cash and plan to hang out with friends for awhile.

Showers to rinse off the mud? You bet, and plenty of them. Don’t forget to bring a towel and a change of shoes! Remember to go grab the gear you checked before the race so you can relax at the Terrain Festival with friends and family. Speaking of family, bring everyone for free* and spread out a blanket. There is plenty of room for them while they’re cheering you on through the final exciting obstacles! We will have vendors with great food and drinks. Plan on listening to music and cheering on athletes while you get some lunch and a drink! Race Swag! We have so much sweet Terrain gear, it needs its own event!

We create a finish area that includes many exciting obstacles for spectators to watch their family and friends on. There is no fee for spectators.
Kid Races

Terrain is about families and friends and working together to conquer this course.

Kids 7-13 years old must have a parent race with them on the 5k course and the parent will need to buy a regular 5k entry.

Mini Monkey Course

Even younger kids can compete on a half-mile course for ages 2-10 years old. One adult can run along the course to cheer their youngster on. You’ll see several wave times available for the Mini Monkey race at each race we host.
